Baseball Splits Twinbill at Sierra

Rocklin, Calif. - Freshman Nick Roach batted in the go-ahead run on a two-RBI double in the top of the second to give the Falcons their first win of the season on a 4-3 victory over Sierra on Thursday. The Solano baseball fell in the first game of the doubleheader 13-3.

Roach reached on all but one plate appearance in the backend of the twinbill, leading off the game by getting on base after an error by Sierra. Roach also drew a walk and counted a sacrifice bunt. 

In the first game, sophomore Cameron Michael led the way with a 2-of-3 performance with a double and a run. Sophomore Kyle Krebs ended the day with a pair of doubles and a RBI.

Roach was the pitcher of record for the front end of the doubleheader, charged with the loss after throwing 3.1 innings, with his record now 0-2 on the season. Sophomore Danny Zalvidar (1-1) earned his first win of the season on a seven-inning outing, fanning four and allowing only one run on two hits.

The Falcons (1-5) host Skyline next on Tuesday, Feb. 12 for a 2 p.m. contest.
