Baseball Outlasts American River in Extras

Sacramento, Calif. - Freshman Brandon Herter batted in the go-ahead run to score sophomore Gannon Goldensoph as the Solano baseball team outlasted American River, 4-3, in 11 innings on Tuesday.

The two teams matched each other in the opening inning with a run each before American River scored a pair more over the next four innings. Solano knotted the game up in the sixth with a sophomore Isaiah Verrett stealing home, followed by Goldensoph scoring on an error by the third baseman.

On the day, Goldensoph had a perfect day, entering the game in the bottom of the fifth inning and going 2-for-2 with two runs and a stolen base. Herter's lone hit of the day was the game-winning RBI.

Three other Falcon batters recorded two-hit outings with Verrett counting the team's other RBI.

Freshman Edgar Aqui Cruz tallied his first win of the season on the mound, throwing five full hitless innings, while fanning five.

Solano (3-7) returns home to host Folsom Lake on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m.
