Baseball Bounces Back with 10-4 Extra Innings Win over San Mateo

San Mateo, Calif. - Sophomore Wellington Balsley tallied four RBI in the Solano baseball team's 10-4 extra innings win over San Mateo on Thursday afternoon.

Balsley went 2-for-6 with three-RBI triple to add insurance runs in the 10th inning. Freshman Cameron Martin broke the tie earlier in the inning with his one-out, bases loaded RBI single to score freshman Eli De Guzman, who reached on an error by the shortstop to start the inning.

Solano took the early 2-0 lead behind the bats of freshman Dylan Lamb and sophomore Brayden Huckaby before taking a 4-2 lead going into the bottom of the fourth. But San Mateo responded with a pair of runs that would keep the game knotted until the 10th when the Falcons scored their six runs and batting through the entire lineup.

Freshman right-handed pitcher Jesse Rodriguez (1-0) earned the win after a 4.2 inning outing with seven strikeouts and scattering a pair of hits in 19 batters faced.

The Falcons (2-1) look to take another game off of San Mateo on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m.
