Fairfield, Calif. - Despite a four-run eighth inning to force extras, the Solano baseball team was outlasted, 7-6, by Chabot on Tuesday afternoon.
Freshmen Shane Martin and Nico Contraras both chalked up triples with Martin adding a RBI and Contraras chipping in a pair of RBI on his two-hit outing. Freshman Jaxson Bates also posted a two-hit game with a RBI and run.
Chabot jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, adding three more insurance runs through the seventh inning. Solano challenged the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth before equalizing the contest with its four runs in the eighth. But a costly one-out error in the 10th put Chabot in scoring position that was punctuated with a RBI double in the next at bat.
Freshman righty Josh Petrill (1-1) was charged with the loss, pitching one complete inning and allowing the game-winning unearned run on six batters faced.
The Falcons (1-3) remain home, hosting Skyline on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m.
