Eight Falcons Qualify for State Tennis Tournament

Fairfield, Calif. - Eight Falcon tennis players have qualified for the Ojai State Tournament after Solano College hosted the Big 8 North Conference Tournament last week with competition wrapping up on Saturday.

The tournament spanned three days with seven participating colleges, 13 teams, and 128 total matches to determine the qualifiers that will travel to Ojai, Calif.

The men's and women's teams both qualified one singles competitor and two doubles teams. On the men's side, freshman Rajan Bhatia qualified both for singles and doubles with partner freshman Phi Le. Freshman D. Patrick Ramos and sophomore Aaron Brumels also earned a spot in the state tournament.

In women's competition, freshman Melanie Fisher also qualified in singles competition as well as doubles with her partner sophomore Jyne Velono. Freshman Yanci Yanez and partner sophomore Yasmeen Awad were the other Falcons pair to advance to state.

The Ojai Tournament begins on Wednesday, Apr. 24 with the individual competition taking place on April 27-28.
