The Falcons Tennis team will open their season on Friday 1/26 @ West Valley College for a doubles tournament. The team is excited for this season and will be under the direction of our new Head Coach Sierra Shackelford.
Sierra Shackelford enters her first season as head tennis coach. Sierra played two seasons for Solano College in 2017 and 2018. She then went on to play at the NCAA D2 level for Dominican University of California. While at Solano College, Sierra qualified for the state tournament in doubles in 2017 and for both singles and doubles in 2018.
While at Dominican University, Sierra was an Academic All-PacWest recipient. Sierra played for the women’s basketball team for the 2019-2020 season where she shot 30.0 from the field and 35.3 from behind the arc. At the same time, Sierra played on the women’s tennis team where she was named to the 2020 Division II Women ITA All-Academic Team and was an Academic All-PacWest recipient. Unfortunately, the season was cut short due to COVID. The pandemic led Sierra to dive into her coaching career with her brother Phoenix Shackelford under the name “Ignite Sports Training.”
