Ukiah, Calif. - The Solano softball team split a Tuesday twinbill at Mendocino, falling in the first game, 5-4, before rebounding with a 10-7 victory.
Solano took the early lead in the first game, going up 4-0 on the Eagles, but struggled to overcome a 5-0 run in the fourth and fifth innings. A trio of freshmen in Gracie Alves, Katie Poole, and Kenadi Akin all captured a pair of hits each with Alves counting a double. Freshman Lyndsey Urricequi added a pair of RBI.
Freshman righty Kiera Edwards (0-1) was charged with the complete-game loss, allowing only five hits with four strikeouts.
In the second game, Poole continued to lead the offense with a three-hit outing with a double and homerun. Akin also counted a homerun with a team-high three RBI.
Alves (1-0) threw the complete game in the circle with seven strikeouts and allowing only three earned runs.
Solano (1-3) remains on the road, facing Santa Rosa in a doubleheader on Friday, Apr. 30 beginning at 12 p.m.
