Fairfield, Calif. - The Solano women's basketball team clinched the Bay Valley Conference title with a 77-73 victory over Laney on Friday.
The win gives Solano coach Matt Borchert his eighth BVC Championship since taking over the team in 2000-01 season, and it marks the program's 13th BVC title.
"It feels fantastic," Borchert said. "All seasons are challenging, but we had a lot of hurdles to overcome this year... To get over all of them along with the normal hurdles a season gives - building to this point - it's very satifying."
Sophomore guard Jenessa Boling had a team-high 19 points, hitting three 3-pointers in the opening half.
"I think all our hard work paid off," Boling said.. "We just wanted to hang another banner up from the beginning, so we accomplished our goal."
The women's squad (19-7) will face San Joaquin Delta next in the Northern Californai Regional Semifinals on Saturday, Feb. 25.
