Pimentel Sets School Record in Victory over Siskiyous; Falcons Fall to Gavilan

Fairfield, Calif. - Sophomore setter Mia Pimentel set a new single-match school record with 49 assists as the Falcons split in their home opener on Friday evening.

Solano fell to Gavilan in three (25-20, 25-18, 25-18) before rebounding with a five-set thriller over Siskyous (17-25, 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 15-11).

Pimentel added a nine kill, 19 assist effort in the team's first match. 

Sophomore middle blocker Destiny Greenwood paced all Falcon hitters with 20 kills against the Eagles with freshmen Ixchel Moreno Valdovinos and Allora Somontan backing her up with nine and eight kills each, respectively.

Defensively, freshman Kailyn Kaiser led the team with double-figure digs in both matches with 10 against Gavilan and 12 against Siskyous.

The women's volleyball team (2-2) remains home to host Diablo Valley and Butte in the Falcon Classic on Wednesday, Sept. 5. Matches will begin at 3 p.m.
