Falcons Remain Undefeated in BVC Play with Four-Set Win at Yuba

Marysville, Calif. - The Solano women's volleyball team won its sixth-straight match, defeating Yuba in four sets on Monday evening.

Set scores were 15-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-21.

"It was another tough match, losing the first set and clawing back to win the next three sets," Solano head women's volleyball coach Darla Williams said. "Yuba put up a huge block, and it took a bit to adjust. Our serve receive passing, tough serving, and defense put us up in the match."

Sophomore Kailyn Kaiser led the way with 19 digs, serving a perfect 13-for-13 with an ace. Freshman Sammy Brown backed her up with 17 digs, also serving a perfect 18-for-18 with three aces.

Sophomore Anaya Rodriguez chipped in 15 digs with 24 assists, while freshman Jeryn Baldonado counted 16 assists, two kills, and two aces. Freshman Dani Rydjord added 13 digs with a team-high 15 kills, while freshmen Chris Rigney Cruz and Gina Garlick tallied seven kills apiece. Rigney Cruz earned four blocks, while Garlick added a pair.

"We served much better as a team - 96 percent," Williams said. "Our offense struggled a bit, but Dani [Rydjord], Gina [Garlick], and Chris [Rigney Cruz] kept us afloat. It was our passing and defense that got this win for us tonight.

The Falcons (13-11, 6-0) return home to host Mendocino next on Wednesday, Oct. 20 for a 6 p.m. match. Masks are required for fans.
