Fairfield, Calif. - Freshman Nathan Gutierrez blasted a pair of home runs in the Solano baseball team's 17-5 win over American River (4-9) on Tuesday.

On the day, batting cleanup, Gutierrez went 3-of-6 with five RBI and three runs scored. Sophomore catcher Jared Denning went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles, two RBI, and two runs scored.

The baseball team jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the opening inning and never looked back. Sophomore lefty Teddy Natter picked up the win on the bump after throwing five complete, scorelees innings. He fanned nine and scattered four hits. 

Solano (3-7) faces Chabot College next on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m.
