Falcons Outlast Napa Valley, 9-8

Napa, Calif. - The Solano baseball team scored four runs in the ninth to outlast Napa Valley, 9-8, on Thursday afternoon. The Falcons now sit at 4-13 overall.

Despite taking an early 4-0 lead through four innings, Solano was outscored 8-1 heading into the ninth. 

Freshman leftfielder Dmitri McLen started the rally with a RBI double - his only hit of the game, scoring freshman first baseman Jason Pridy, who started off the inning with a walk. Sophomores catcher Brayden Huckaby and centerfielder Wellington Balsley earned back-to-back singles to tie the game with the tying run on second before a wild pitch scored Huckaby for the go-ahead run.

Freshman shortstop Nathan Jessell led the Falcons' battery with a 3-for-6 outing with a pair of RBI and a run scored, Freshman thirdbaseman Eli De Guzman counted a triple in his efforts.

On the bump, freshman Nate Mandrik (1-1) earned the win after a three inning outing. 

Solano heads to Laney next on Friday, Mar. 6. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
