Falcons Wrap Season in Four-Set Loss at American River

Falcons Wrap Season in Four-Set Loss at American River

Sacramento, Calif. - Freshman Sammy Brown recorded a double-double in the Falcons' last match of the season, falling in four sets at American River on Tuesday evening.

Set scores were 22-25, 25-10, 25-21, 25-12.

Brown, the reigning BVC MVP, tallied 12 kills with 11 digs, adding three aces. Freshman Dani Rydjord added six kills with a pair of blocks, while freshman Gina Garlick counted five kills, four digs, and a block. Defensively, sophomore Kailyn Kaiser earned 14 digs with three aces. Freshman Crystal Carroll chipped in nine digs.

"I was very happy with the way that we played tonight," Solano women's volleyball coach Darla Williams said. "We took the lead in the middle of set one and kept that lead to pull out the win. No other team in [American River's] tough conference pulled out a set win except the first place team. We definitely improved our overall defense to hang in tight with the No. 5 seed. I was happy with the progress we made as a team this season. This team had a lot of chemistry, and played and competed well as a team.

Solano finishes the 2021 season with an overall record of 21-12, winning the BVC with a perfect 14-0 mark.
