Solano College hosted the first classic of the season finishing 1-1

Solano College hosted the first classic of the season finishing 1-1

The first match we fought to win a five-set marathon.  We were down two sets, to come back to win three straight sets.

24-26, 18-25, 25-15, 26-24, 15-11
It took us a bit to warm up, but when we finally did the team gelled together and fought to survive.  It was a great come from behind win. We played tremendous defense.

On offense Sammy Brown led us with 20 kills, and 31 digs, she served 15-16
Dani Rydjord stepped up her game to run several sets of a 5-1 offense with her highest of 28 assists.  She added 20-20 from the service line and added 7 kills. Dani also led with 4 aces in the Hartnell match. Then in the Delta match she had 1 ace (that was our leader)
In the middle Hannah Del Rio led us with 5 blocks and chipped in 8 kills.
Crystal Carroll contributed 24 digs, served 17-19.
Kelsey Wall chipped in 22 digs, serving 17-19 and added 6 kills and 2 blocks.

Over a two hour break we then played Delta College of Stockton. Let's just say it wasn't pretty after sitting out so long, we lost in three sets: 11-25, 19-25, 10-25.  We had some wonderful digs and great defense, but other parts of our game just could not come together.  We missed too many serves and could not find rhythm on our offense.
Sammy Brown led us with 8 kills, added 10 digs.
Crystal Carroll led with 15 digs
Kelsey Wall contributed 14 digs and added 4 kills.
With one block was Hannah Del Rio, Dani Rydjord and Lili Ayala.

We are 1-1, Wednesday August 31st we will Host College of Sequoias at 3pm, and Folsom Lake College at approximately 7pm.  COS and Folsom will play each other between our matches.
