Solano goes 1-1 with a win over COS in straight sets

Today (Sat.) we finished up the Delta Tournament going 1-1.  We played a 5 set marathon match once again against West Valley College and lost in the 5th set.

16-25, 25-16, 29-27, 23-25, 15-8  We took sets 1 and 4, lost a tight set #3, but bounce back in set 4, to lose it in set #5.  It is great experience for us to be pushed to 5 sets with tough teams, but I would like to see us finish out the match strong.  We posted too many hitting errors over the five sets.

Defense was led with Breanna Davis with 22 digs, 12 assist and serving 27-28

Eryka Ferrer had her best day at digging with 20 digs and serving 9-10

Lexi Vasquez added 19 digs, serving 17-18

At the net Hannah Del Rio was on fire with 8 solo blocks and one assist block.  She led with 9 kills

Malia Decelle chipped in 8 kills and 14 digs

Lana Johansen added 7 kills and 2 blocks

Vanya Paopao served 16-16 with 3 aces, added 4 blocks, 19 assist and 11 digs.

As a team we chalked up 91 digs, it was our offense that could not stay strong through out the match.

2nd Match we beat COS (College of Sequoias)  25-20, 25-19, 25-23

Hannah Del Rio led again at the net with 10 kills, adding 2 blocks

Lana Johansen added 9 kills and served 4-4

Malia Decelle chipped in 6 kills, 11 digs, serving 101-10 with an ace.   Kelsey Wall chipped in 6 kills as well

Jailynn Bermudez led the team with 2 aces, serving 9-9 with 5 digs

Lexi Vasquez was consistent once again with 16 digs, serving 13-14 with an ace

Eryka Ferrer chipped in 10 digs

We worked a bit sluggish in match #2, but great experience for the weekend seeing top teams in northern California.

Wed Sept. 13th we host a quad tournament with Solano College playing at 4pm and 6pm

Overall 6-4
