Solano Community College Wins 2024-25 BVC Shirley Baskin Commissioner’s Cup
Fairfield, CA – September 2, 2025 – Solano Community College has been named the recipient of the 2024-25 Bay Valley Conference Shirley Baskin Commissioner’s Cup, edging out Los Medanos College in a highly competitive race.
The Commissioner’s Cup recognizes member colleges for their combined academic and athletic excellence, highlighting the balance of achievement in the classroom and in competition. The Solano College Athletics GPA, was 3.33 for the year.
“Winning the Commissioner’s Cup is a reflection of the dedication and collaboration across our campus,” said Alison Aubert, Athletic Director. “From our coaches and faculty to counselors, academic mentors, and support staff, everyone plays a part in helping our student-athletes succeed.”

About the Commissioner’s Cup
Section 1: Statement of Purpose
- The Commissioner’s Cup award recognizes member colleges for their athletic and academic excellence.
- Championships in all sports, as well as academic achievement, are valued in the scoring.
- Points are awarded based on achievements from every member’s athletic teams, excluding state playoff competition.
- Sport programs hosted in other conferences can also receive points based on their final standings.
Section 2: Procedure for Selection
- Points are awarded for top-6 finishes in conference sports:
- Additional points are awarded for cumulative athletic department GPA, with 10 points to the highest GPA and 1 point to the lowest.
- GPA calculations are based on eligible team members across all sports, ensuring no individual or single team carries disproportionate weight.
Section 3: Award
The Commissioner’s Cup trophy is awarded annually to the college with the highest point total and is retained for one year or until the next winner is determined.
The current Bay Valley Conference Commissioner, Ellen O’Connor, extends a heartfelt thank you to campus administrators, athletic directors, academic counselors, coaches, and support staff across all member schools. Their tireless efforts provide student-athletes with opportunities to grow personally, academically, and athletically—an impact that is both life-changing and vital to student success.
