Fairfield, Calif. - Despite jumping out to an early 3-0 lead, the Solano baseball team fell to San Mateo, 12-5, on Tuesday in its home opener.
Freshman Isaiah Verrett earned the lone multi-hit game for the Falcons, going 2-of-3 with a run and a walk. Sophomore Roberto Diaz earend a pair of RBI in the outing with a couple of walks.
On the mound, freshman righty John Yancy suffered the loss on 6.1 inning outing with five strikeouts, giving up three hits and four earned runs.
Solano (0-2) continues the three-game series on Thursday, Feb. 1 at San Mateo at 2 p.m.
