Fairfield, Calif. - The Solano baseball team struck first, scoring its pair of runs in the first inning, but dropped the backend of the series against San Mateo, 14-2, on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Wellington Balsley and Nathan Jessell each counted a pair of hits of the team's five total with Jessell earning a RBI.
Sophomore lefty Brandon Herter (0-1) was charged with the loss after starting on the mound for the Falcons. He threw three complete, allowing only one earned run and fanning three.
