FAIRFIELD, Calif. — In a game filled with momentum swings and clutch hitting, Solano College rallied past Napa Valley for a 10–7 victory, thanks to a late-inning offensive surge and key performances from Matteo Copp and Bryce Alcantara.
Napa Valley struck first and led multiple times throughout the contest, taking a 5–1 advantage midway through the fifth inning. But Solano’s offense came alive in the bottom half of the fifth. A four-run outburst tied the game at 5–5, sparked by Copp’s two-run homer—his first of the season—and RBI hits from Alcantara and Mason Sayre.
After the Storm edged ahead 6–5 in the top of the sixth, the Falcons answered right back with two more in the bottom half, reclaiming the lead for good. The big blow came in the seventh when Copp once again delivered, plating two with a clutch single as part of a three-run frame that stretched the lead to 10–6.
Copp finished the day 3-for-5 with four RBIs, while Alcantara also notched a three-hit performance and drove in two. Cayne Hill added a pair of hits and an RBI of his own.
On the mound, Daniel Rios picked up the win in relief, tossing two solid innings, while freshman Nick Kaumbulu shut the door in the ninth to earn his first save of the season. Despite some early trouble, Solano's bullpen held strong, limiting Napa Valley to just two runs over the final four innings.
With the win, the Falcons improve their conference standing and show resilience as they continue to battle late in the season.
