Solano Soars Past Mendocino in High-Scoring Showdown, 20-12

FAIRFIELD, CA – The Falcons had a pre game celebration of life for Justin Quilatan, past Solano College baseball player who suddenly passed away in June 2024.  Justin's son Kai threw out the first pitch of the game, which energized the Falcons quickly.

In an explosive offensive display, Solano College took down Mendocino College 20-12 in a wild, high-scoring affair.

Mendocino struck first, scoring in the opening frame, but Solano answered immediately with a three-run inning. The teams traded runs early, with Mendocino briefly tying the game in the third before Solano pulled away for good.

The defining moment came in the sixth inning, when Solano erupted for 12 runs, capitalizing on clutch hits and Mendocino’s defensive miscues. Michael Rivera led the charge, going 4-for-5 with six RBIs, including a key double. Rolando Ramos added a home run and drove in five runs, while Cameron Taylor had a three-hit, three-RBI performance.

With 21 hits and 20 runs, Solano made a statement, proving their offensive depth in an exciting home win.

Tyler Chalk (W) anchored Solano’s pitching staff with a strong 7-inning performance, allowing 8 hits and 4 runs (3 earned) while striking out 3 and walking just 1. His efficient outing set the tone for the Falcons, keeping Mendocino’s offense in check through the middle innings.
