Somontan Headed to University of Maine at Fort Kent

Fairfield, Calif. - Women's volleyball utility player Allora Somontan is headed to the University of Maine at Fort Kent to continue her academic and athletic career, announced Wednesday.

Somontan, a biology major, wore many hats during her two years with the Falcons. In 2018, she started as an outside hitter with 102 kills, 142 digs, and 32 service aces.

As a sophomore, she handled a lot of the setting duties with 236 assists, adding 150 digs and 57 service aces. She broke the school record for most service aces in a match with 17 against Contra Costa on October 23. If she wasn't directing the offense, she was in the back row as a defensive specialist. Her efforts earned her All-Bay Valley Conference Second Team honors.

The University of Maine at Fort Kent is located in Fort Kent, Maine and is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA). Somontan will play under Selena Castro, a former Solano women's volleyball student-athlete, who competed in 2012-13.
