Fairfield, Calif. - Sophomore Vanessa Hughes nabbed a pair of academic honors, earning Academic All-Conference and Academic All-State, announced Sunday.

Hughes, a biology major, is a two-time receipient of both academic honors. She joins 77 other women's basketball student-athletes from 37 other colleges on the 2019-20 CCCWBCA Academic All-State Team. She joined 12 other student-athletes who have maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during their careers.

To qualify for Academic All-State recognition the student-athletes had to complete a year of play on their teams, earn at least 24 units of credit and maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA. 

On the court, she was the team's third-leading scorer this year, averaging 11.7 points per game and shooting 40.6 percent from the field. She played in all 25 games, starting 20, and led the team in rebounding (7.2 rpg).
