Fairfield, Calif. - Women's basketball's Vanessa Hughes has committed to continue her women's basketball career at Central Methodist University, announced Wednesday.

Hughes heads to CMU after capturing a 2020 California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association (CCCWBCA) Academic All-State nod. She adds that to also earning Bay Valley Conference (BVC) All-Academic honors. 

On the court, Hughes led the Falcons to back-to-back BVC titles with a 20-3 league record. As team captain in 2019-20, she paced the team on the boards with 181 total rebounds, averaging 7.2 per game. Offensively, she tallied 292 total points, averaging 11.7 points per game, which was good for third on the team.

Central Methodist is one of the top NAIA women's basketball programs in the country and is located in Fayette, Mo.
