FAIRFIELD, CA — Solano Community College’s women’s tennis team put up a strong fight against Diablo Valley College but ultimately fell short in a 6-3 loss. The match featured intense doubles and singles play, with the Falcons securing key victories despite DVC’s overall dominance.

Doubles Play

The match opened with competitive doubles action. Solano’s No. 1 duo, Savannah Jose and Ezrielle Llave, battled hard but were edged out by Victoria Silva and Naomi Munro, 8-6. The No. 2 pair, My-Tien Nguyen and Masha Dontova, claimed a crucial 8-6 win over Marina Wills and Kaylani Payne, giving Solano their first point. However, the No. 3 match resulted in a default victory for Diablo Valley.

Singles Action

In singles play, My-Tien Nguyen and Masha Dontova delivered standout performances, securing straight-set wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots. Nguyen dominated Munro 6-3, 6-1, while Dontova defeated Payne with the same scoreline. However, DVC took control of the remaining matches. Jose fell to Wills (2-6, 3-6), and Llave was bested by Silva (3-6, 1-6). Solano’s No. 5 and No. 6 singles players, Arlene Venegas Rivera and Yasmin Ward, were unable to compete, resulting in default wins for DVC.
