Women's Tennis Season Continues in the Big 8 Semi Finals after loss to DVC

Solano Women’s Tennis Falls to Diablo Valley College in Home Match

FAIRFIELD, CA – The Solano Community College (SCC) women’s tennis team faced a tough challenge against Diablo Valley College (DVC) on March 13, 2025, ultimately falling 6-2. Despite strong individual performances, the Falcons were unable to overcome DVC’s depth and consistency.

Doubles Matches

DVC took control early in doubles play, winning two of the three matchups. In the No. 1 doubles matchup, Victoria Silva and Naomi Munro fought hard but fell to DVC’s Ezrielle Llave and Savannah Jose by a score of 4-8. SCC’s Kaylani Payne and Marina Wills responded with a solid 8-5 victory over Masha Dontova and My-Tien Nguyen at the No. 2 spot.

The No. 3 doubles match resulted in a default win for DVC, giving them an early advantage in the overall match score.

Singles Matches

DVC continued their dominance in singles play, securing four of the five completed matches. Marina Wills faced Savannah Jose in the No. 1 singles match but was forced to retire while trailing 3-6, 2-3. Victoria Silva delivered a strong performance at No. 2, earning Solano’s only singles victory with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Llave.

However, DVC controlled the remaining singles contests. Naomi Munro fell to Nguyen 0-6, 0-6 at No. 3, while Kaylani Payne was defeated 3-6, 1-6 by Dontova in the No. 4 match. Cindy Jimenez also struggled against Yasmin Ward, falling 0-6, 0-6 at No. 5.

The No. 6 singles match was defaulted by SCC, adding another point to DVC’s total and securing their overall team victory.

Final Score: DVC 6, SCC 2

Solano Women will host the Folsom Lake team at home on Wednesday March 19th at 1 pm.
