Women's Soccer Celebrates Nine Sophomores

Fairfield, Calif. - The Solano women's soccer team celebrated its nine sophomores during its match against Yuba on Tuesday.

The nine sophomores have led the 2019 squad to a 12-5-3, 11-1-1 Bay Valley Conference record and close out the campaign at home against Merritt on Friday, Nov. 8 and Napa Valley on Friday, Nov. 15. Both matches begin at 3 p.m. and a postseason appearance.

#00 Kirstyn Gotschall | Goalkeeper | Vacaville, Calif. (Vacaville HS)

Kirstyn Gotschall started all matches during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. This season she has played a total of 1,300 minutes with six shutouts and a 1.66 goals against average. She is one of the top keepers in the state with 101 saves.

Last season she logged 1,650 minutes with seven shutouts and a 2.29 goals against average. She finished seventh in the state with 138 saves. Her efforts earned her First Team All-State, First Team All-NorCal, and BVC Player of the Year honors. 

She is a nursing major and wants to transfer to a four-year school to continue playing soccer.

#5 Isabel Olmedo | Forward | Vacaville, Calif. (Will C. Wood HS)

Isabel Olmedo is a two-year starting forward for the Falcons. This season she has scored seven goals, adding three assists.

Last season she scored 22 goals and earned eight assists, good for ninth in the state in scoring and led the BVC in goals and points (52), earning BVC Forward of the Year.

Olmedo is a nursing major and wants to transfer to a four-year school to continue playing soccer.

#8 Karla Cardinal | Midfielder | Vacaville, Calif. (Vacaville HS)

Karla Cardinal started both years as center midfielder. This season she started every game with three goals and 12 assists. Her assist numbers leads the BVC.

Last season she led the BVC with 23 assists, also good for third in the state, tacking on five goals. For her efforts, she was named BVC Midfielder of the Year. Additionally she was awarded the State Academic Award and served as team captain.

Cardinal is a biology major and wants to transfer to a four-year school to continue playing soccer.

#9 Brooke Molina | Defender | Vacaville, Calif. (Will C. Wood HS)

Brooke Molina started every match this season as center defender after being sidelined most of her freshman season due to injury. She is currently team captain and has scored one goal and three assists. 

Molina is a biology major and wants to transfer to a four-year school to continue playing soccer.

#12 Abrejiah Jordan | Forward | Vacaville, Calif. (Vanden HS)

Abrejiah Jordan started eight games for the Falcons his season, playing in 12 before an injury. Her rookie season was also cut short due to injury. She had two assists this year and scored two goals in 2018.

Jordan is a kinesiology major and wants to transfer to a four-year school to continue playing soccer.

#13 Melinda Rashidian | Defender | Fairfield, Calif. (Rodriguez HS)

Melinda Rashidian is a two-year starting defender for the Falcons. She currently has two assists this season as team captain, and she scored one goal and had two assists in 2018, earning All-BVC First Team.

Rashidian is a criminal justice major and wants to transfer to a four-year school to continue playing soccer.

#14 Isabella Kelly-Fondersmith | Midfielder | Fairfield, Calif. (Armijo HS)

Isabella Kelly-Fondersmith is a two-year starting center midfielder for Solano. This season she has scored five goals with one assist as defensive midfielder.

Last season she earned All-BVC Second Team honors, adding the State Academic Award.

Kelly-Fondersmith is a nursing major and wants to transfer to a four-year school to continue playing soccer.

#15 Maya Delgado | Defender | Vacaville, Calif. (Vacaville HS)

Maya Delgado has played in all games this season, starting four. She was a consistent starter in 2018 until injuries limited her play. Last season she earned the State Academic Award.

Delgado is a kinesiology major and wants to transfer to a four-year school to continue playing soccer.

#17 Grace Lee | Midfielder | Vacaville, Calif. (Vacaville HS)

Grace Lee is a two-year starting center midfielder for the Falcons. This season she has scored two goals with seven assists as team captain.

Last season she counted two goals with three assists.

Lee is a kinesiology major and wants to transfer to a four-year school to continue playing soccer.
