Solano College started their first classic of the season on the road at Hartnell College.  First match Solano fought an intense high-level match with Delta College and lost in five.  

21-25, 25-20, 18-25, 25-11, 15-8 

The match lasted over two hours with a defensive battle back and forth.  Solano highlights: 

AJ Projillo as the starting Libero killed it defensively with her game high of 39 digs, serving 13-14 with an ace. 

On offense Vanessa Semien led with 10 kills, chipped in 11 digs and two blocks.

Vanya Paopao added 20 digs, led with 21 assist, served 18-19 with an ace and chipped in 6 kills. 

Breanna Davis also in double digits added 19 digs of her own, serving 10-11 and 8 assist 

Jada Cuffie led with 5 blocks, chipped in 5 kills

Giana Guintu led with 2 aces serving 17-20, had 18 digs and 8 kills

It was a fun way to start off the season, playing a team that was #1 in the state last year to five sets. I am very proud of this team; our stats were spread out with many individual players shining on offense and defense.  

With a 30-minute break Solano then fought Hartnell College to a four-set win. 

25-19, 25-13, 24-26, 25-12

Defensively once again AJ Projillo killed it with 23 digs, serving 12-12 with an ace and four assist

Breanna Davis a top offensive setter added her own 21 digs, six kills  and 4 blocks

Vanya Paopao led with 19 assist, added 13 digs, led the offense with 9 kills on zero errors and served 17-17 with 4 aces

Jada Cuffie ran the net with 6 blocks, chipped in 5 kills

Aliyah Aguiar added 5 kills and 1 block

Jacky Capili served 15-15 with 3 aces

Giana Guintu served 24-26 with 6 aces and chipped in 5 kills and 9 digs

Vanessa Semien chipped in 7 kills and 8 digs 

Makenzie Lovell served 4-4 and added 4 digs

It was a great first win of the season, they showed us they can play at a higher level once again after losing a heart breaker five set match only half an hour before.    This entire day was a team effort with each player on the roster playing in both matches.
