Two Solano Athletes Receive the Prestigious 3C2A Scholar Athlete Award at Spring Convention

Congratulations to Solano's 3C2A Scholar Athletes recognized today at the 3C2A Convention, Sammy Brown and Kyla Maghoney.  These athletes make Solano Athletics very proud,  and reminds us why we work so hard to advance these students to the next level.  California’s community colleges continue to make great strides in preserving the role of the athlete as a student first. The implementation of the 2.0 grade point average and the inclusion and recognition of the statewide California Community College Counselors/Advisors Academic Association for Athletes (3C4A) have drawn a significant amount of attention throughout the United States. These guidelines go hand in hand with the 3C2A Scholar-Athlete and 3C4A Achievement Awards. Each provides colleges an annual opportunity to acknowledge the academic, athletic, social, and personal achievements of outstanding student-athletes. Each year, nearly 23,000 student-athletes participate in intercollegiate athletics at 3C2A member colleges. Today’s awards luncheon will honor some of those individuals. You will be touched by their stories and be reminded of why community colleges are the true people’s colleges of California. The 3C2A Scholar-Athlete Award is awarded to two outstanding student athletes nominated by their respective colleges and conferences. The Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and Scholar Team awards acknowledge student-athletes who have achieved unparalleled success in the classroom. The 3C4A selects its award winners. Academic Athletic Counselors annually nominate recipients of the 3C4A awards, and selections are determined by a blue-ribbon panel of 3C4A members. Their stories are moving and inspirational. Above all, enjoy the luncheon. Celebrate the accomplishments of the student-athletes and the important role you have in ensuring the continued success of California community college student-athletes for today and tomorrow.
