Fairfield, Calif. - Sophomore Alaena Selden of the softball team has earned Solano Athletics February Athlete of the Month honors, announced Tuesday.

Selden started all seven games for the Falcons at catcher in February. She led the team with a .423 batting average and .731 slugging percentage, and she amassed nine hits, including two home runs, with eight RBI. Defensively, Selden has been perfect in the field, recording 21 putouts, six assists, and catching two runners stealing.

She is a leader on the field and her work ethic, attitude, and hustle that sets the tone for a lot of the team's games. And she also is a top performer in the classroom.
