Dr. Robert Peterson is a sports fan. He loves them all. Perhaps that helped determine his career focus: Sports Medicine. While he is an orthopedic surgeon, his treatment options don’t necessarily involve surgery.

Understanding the different physical demands of athletes in different sports is key to his approach to sports medicine. He’s an expert in shoulder, elbow and knee surgery. He’s an advocate for minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery when appropriate. That’s because most patients can return home a few hours after their surgery.

His medical degree is from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, but he’s completed internships, a residency and fellowships in major centers of sports medicine across the country. He also teaches arthroscopy procedures to other surgeons.

He is a trusted team physician for athletes at UC Davis, Solano College, and Vacaville and Will C. Wood High schools.
