Softball Opens 2018 Campaign with Pair of Victories

Fairfield, Calif. - Freshman Adriana Montuya and sophomore Brianna Schlattman combined to lead the Falcons in the circle as Solano College opened up the 2018 campaign with a pair of wins over De Anza on Thursday afternoon. 

Solano defeated the Dons 13-1 in five innings, and 2-1.

Montuya threw the complete, five-inning game to open the twinbill, fanning five and scattering five hits. Schlattman backed up the opening effort, hurling six complete innings, with three strikeouts and only allowing four hits. Freshman Courtney McGraw earned the save, facing four batters in the seventh.

Leadoff outfielder Aleya Turner led the Falcon offense, going 3-of-6 on the day with a double and two runs. Sophomore Molly Schnurr paced the team in the first game of the day with a 2-of-3 outing with two runs scored and a pair of RBI.

The softball team returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 8, hosting Modesto at 3 p.m. It then plays a pair of games on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Sierra. Game times are set for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
