Softball Splits in Home Opener

Fairfield, Calif. - The Solano softball team split its home opener, falling to Sequoias, 11-4, and defeating Shasta, 7-3, on Saturday afternoon.

Against Shasta, freshman Ari McIntyre (1-1) went to work in the circle, scattering seven hits and allowing only one run over 6.1 innings. Freshman Breyon Fullard led the Solano bats, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run. Defensively, Solano counted a triple play in the second inning.

In the matchup with Sequoias, three Falcons counted two-hit games led by sophomore Hailey Enriquez and freshman Steele Shumway's doubles. Enriquez added a pair of stolen bases in the effort. Sophomore Cecily Kaluza (0-2) was charged with the loss in the circle, allowing four runs, only two earned, and fanning three in five innings pitched.

 
Solano (1-3) heads back on the road to Diablo Valley College next to face the Vikings at 10 a.m. and Feather River at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
