Oakland, Calif. - Freshman shortstop Nathan Jessell went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI in the Solano baseball team's 8-3 loss at Laney on Thursday afternoon.
Jessell added a run, while freshman rightfielder Cameron Martin also earned two hits on the day and a walk.
Solano scored all three runs in the top of the third to cut Laney's lead to one going into the bottom half of the inning, but the Eagles tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the third and a couple more in the fourth and eighth.
Sophomore Edgar Aqui-Cruz (1-4) was charged with the loss after starting the game and hurling four innings. He allowed seven earned runs with a pair of strikeouts.
